2/2 (sections/tips). This rod was made to my specifications by Paul in 2003. No reel seat is currently affixed. I never did decide on a reel seat and relied on a snug, "dry" (not bonded) fit to get me by. Rod is designed for an uplocking seat. The bottom cork rings are bored out to accept a reel seat hood/retainer from either Bellinger or Struble -- perhaps other companies, too, but have only tried Bellinger and Struble. I have the parts to be used as a guide for proper reel seat selection. Rod casts well -- a true five weight with a crisp, pleasing action. Don't take my word for it, though. Cast and see for yourself by inspecting it at your cost. That is, a non-refundable, exact-cost shipping charge will be required for both ways -- in the case that you decide not to buy. NO DEPOSIT NECESSARY. I believe that bamboo rods should be inspected before purchase because t are more variable involved than t are with graphite rods. I will supply a reel and line if need be. Snake guides are Snake Brand bronze. Comes with a standard brushed aluminum case and black, cotton poplin rod liner. Oh ... I've tried my best to detail in the photos all the wear and tear. is a quick rundown: (1) Male ferrule wrap has unraveled a few turns at the edge of the fluting. Further unravelling appears unlikely and can be remedied with some varnish, as wrapping is still secure. I believe this occurred because the edge of the ferrule base (end of fluting area) was pronounced and created a high step. (2) Hookkeeper wrap has some varnish worn off on the edges/corners. (3) The black nickel finish on the underside of both Snake Brand tip tops has been worn off -- one more than the other. Shipping is offered. SHIPPING IS OFFERED. I DIDN'T WANT TO HASSLE WITH THE EBAY SHIPPING DETAILS. Please don't hesitate with questions. Thanks. Andy
Upon further inspection, one of the tips' snake guides have a little surface rust at the base, closest to the wraps. It's been a while since I've inspected this rod. The bronze color of the guides blended in with the rust. I will accept any retraction of bids that have been placed so far. I apologize for the delay in discovering this important condition detail. The finish on this particular tip section isn't damaged, however. I used this tip more than the other, apparently. NOTICE TO INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: NO RETURNS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR AN INTERNATIONAL TRANSACTIONS. NO RETURNS FOR INTERNATIONAL BUYERS. I need to amplify this more: All of the snake guides on the tip section specified above have a little surface rust at the base. Also, on these same snake guides, the finish on the inside of the curves, w the line rests and travels, has been worn away from line friction. Look carefully in the photos and you might be able to make it out.The grip is 6-1/8" long. Its girth is ample, too. Could easily accommodate a reshaping.
