DINKY 983 AUTO SERVICE CAR CARRIER + TRAILER,1958, MIB! This beautiful collector's piece is an absolutely superb and extremely difficult to find Dinky Toys 983 Auto Service Car Carrier With Trailer, original models and blue-striped box, complete with all the inner packing, instructions sheet, promo leaflet and very rare green Dinky Toys 1960-61 Collector's Licence! When was the last time you saw one with all these extras? This wonderful heavyweight pairing features two fantastic heavyweight car transporter models, Nos. 984 and 985, in red with grey ramps operated on the lorry by a fully-working winch handle on the side, with pale yellow Dinky Auto Service side decals, and black ridged tyres on grey wheel hubs. This fabulous model set is one of a small collection of 14 fantastic prime-quality Dinky models and boxes I have just purchased from a gentleman from Bath, who owned them from new as a child. He rarely used to play with them, and when he outgrew them, his parents stored them all carefully in a box in the loft, where they remained until a few months ago when they were offered to me for sale. This is one of those finds that will surely be of interest to all serious Dinky collectors everywhere... virtually all of the models in this collection - including this great pair - are in mint condition, and are complete with their original boxes with all the extras. All are appearing for sale here for the first time since they manufactured all those decades ago... to see the others, simply PLEASE NOTE: This set is very large and very heavy - the box is a massive 1 foot 8 inches long, so postage charges are going to be considerably higher than usual, especially to non-UK bidders. One of many great vintage diecast collectables and rare sets now available in my ebay store... ! Model conditions - both the lorry and the trailer are in fantastic mint perfect condition, looking to me like they have barely been out of the box in 50 years; there may be the odd finishing microdot to find under a magnifying glass, but that's the case with virtually all of these old large-scale toys; rest assured that this is the finest example of this rare set that you are ever likely to find; supersize the photos for a good close look at an exceptional museum-quality investment piece! 10/10 Box condition - the massive box is in remarkable condition considering its age and size, very crisp, clean and strong, with only minimal storage wear, with a beautiful clean lid showing the great illustration of the two models inside, and a strong firm dark blue base, just fantastic all round; I doubt you'll ever see this box in better condition anywhere 9.5/10 Extras - inside the box is all the original inner packing - the shaped packing pieces in the base of box to hold the models in place, plus the extra shaped piece that sits on top; also present is the rare original instructions sheet for operating the ramps and the winch, plus the very rare green 'Dinky Toys Collector's Licence' booklet for 1960-61, along with the rare black and white promotional sheet showing some of the range of models of the time (this sheet is a bit creased and torn across the middle, but all complete); I've never seen this set offered with all these extras before... it has to be the finest example of this great rare car transporter set ever offered anywhere, and a prime investment piece for any serious Dinky collector! 10/10 The best way of judging this item is to scroll down and study the photos alongside on the right - I've taken several close-up views to help you make up your mind.
