Diomed. The Life, Travels, and Observations of A Dog. By John Sergeant Wise. Illustrated by J. Linton Chapman. New York: The Macmillan Company, 1899 (1897). 12mo., 330 pp., plus publisher's advertisements bound in at back, original red cloth with gilt lettering on cover and spine, spine has faded as has gilt on spine, gilt on cover is bright, board edges have some light soiling, spine is rubbed and there is a very small loss of cloth near gutter, endpapers somewhat soiled and lightly foxed, content is clean and crisp, in Very Good to Very Good Plus condition. A SCARCE volume by John Sergeant Wise (1846 - 1913), a lieutenant in the Confederate Army.
