Now retired it's time to down size Vintage Items & Militaria that I have collected for 75 years are weighing on me like the chain dragged by Marley's ghost Here is an exceptionally rare and beautiful American , Original, Vintage, Naval Item - Naval Dirk - 1820-1840 Blued 9" Blade, Gold filled decoration, including a circle of 13 Stars and a Grip of a recognizable material that is no longer "politically correct" Often a badge of rank for Midshipman, the U.S. Navy did not offer a "pattern" Dirk until 1856. Prior Dirks were usually"One Of", often styled after English Naval Dirks (as is this one). The 13 stars mark it as, unquestionably, American. The style of the grip is "text book" 1820 -1840 period. There is some pitting on the blade, but a very high percentage of the bluing and design & Gold filling remains. This is a first class collectable I'll be, regularly listing "Links from my Chain" The items will be old and collectable
