This is a great Dirk van Erp wastebasket. These are practically impossible to come by. This one is in excellent original condition with only very, very slight losses to the wicker itself and a hammered monogrammed medallion on its front with the initials EMS (Eva Marie Saint? Edna Maint-vincent Sallay?) It measures 15" by 11 and 1/2". T are sixteen hand hammered tacks around the top and bottom bands of the basket, unique to van Erp's design vocabulary, a beautiful decorative as well as functional motif; and copper straps along the bottom of the basket for strength. You don't have to use it for crumpled office papers. Fill it with an arrangement of dried flowers or grasses to accent your Stickley desk or sofa! Forgive my attempts at humor and design theory and bid, if you care to, with confidence. You'll be happy with this basket if you win it.
