I recently retired from the Walt Disney Company. During my 26 years, I collected a very large variety of items and will be listing many as a "bundle" or "package". For Example, it may be several items themed to a particular collection, Disney Cruise Line, EPCOT, Disney's Animal Kingdom, The Magic Kingdom, Disney-MGM Studios, Press Events, Pin Collecting, Stickers, Clothes, Limited Edition Lithographs (framed & unframed), Cast Member Exclusives and one-of-a-kind items. Please mark me as an eBay favorite.
It was a difficult decision to let go of this item. This Mickey Mouse Cel shows the basic steps necessary in bringing an animated character to life on the screen. First, animators start with a rough blue pencil drawing to determine the movement of the character in its very basic shapes. Second, once the broad animation of the character has been determined with the rough drawings, the detail of the character is clarified by drawing over the original blue line drawing, thus insuring that the original spontaneity of the animator's drawing is not lost. Third, "Clean Up" is the precise finished drawing whose transferred image will eventually appear on the screen. Fourth, the "Clean Up" drawing is then transferred onto a clear acetate "cel" via hand inking or xerography. The lines of the cel are then carefully checked to make sure it accurately registers to the drawing. Fifth, once the cel is painted, it then goes through a final check and is cleaned of even the most minute dust particle. Usually, one second of animation requires 24 individual drawings for each character. This Mickey Mouse Cel features five poses from "Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip" (1940). The cel was created in the animation production area of The Walt Disney Animation Florida Studio and was silk-screened for longevity. The frame measures 17" x 14". The matting opening measures 10 ¾" x 7 ¾". This is truly a rare item that will add "great" value to any collection!
