Perfect Gift For Mother's Day 996 DISNEYANA CONVENTION MINNIE MOUSE AND HUMMEL GIRL SCULTUREFOR MOTHER LIMITED EDITION - 0168/1200In 1992, Disney announced the first ever "official" Disneyana Convention. The convention was to be held on Disney property at the Contemporary resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida on September 24-27th 1982. The first convention was a success! It continued by alternating annually between Walt Disney World, Florida and Disneyland, California, until 1995, when for the first time, Disney held two conventions (one at each park). Then in 1996, Disney began exclusively holding the convention at Walt Disney World until the year 2001. I remember each year looking forward to these conventions and picking up treasured pieces. Unfortunately, in 2003 the Disneyana Convention was canceled and to this day, many still await the return of the Official Disneyana Convention. In the brief history of the Convention, I enjoyed collecting many of these limited pieces. However, this summer I will be retiring from teaching and my husband and I will be downsizing to a home that is less than half the size of our current home. Therefore, I am forced to sell many of these special pieces that were sold at these Conventions. This Goebel piece was designed for the 1996 Convention. Minnie Mouse and Hummel Girl Sculpture: "For Mother " was designed for Goebel. It was made in a Limited Edition of 1,200 and this piece was 168/1200. It was NEVER sold in stores. It has the original Goebel figurine and then Minnie Mouse piece. It's on a wooden frame and has For Mother on a brass plaque attached. The piece is signed and numbered by the artist Marion Huschka. I don't have a reserve price on it, but the convention price was $470.00. I apologize that I do not have the box for it (was not planning on selling it when I purchased it). It has been kept in a glass enclosed cabinet and has never been taken out except now to photograph it. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
