WALT DISNEY Westland Giftware MICKEY MOUSE MICKEY INSP EAR ATIONS "MICKEY THROUGH THE YEARS " In celebration of his 75 years of bringing magic to audiences everyw, The Walt Disney Company launched a monumental event to honor everyone's favorite friend, Mickey Mouse. Mickey InspEARations is a unique tribute commemorating Mickey's amazing career, from his debut in "Steamboat Willie" on November 18, 1928 to being the official Disney Spokes-Mouse. Originally, 75 statues of Mickey were designed by the characters friends, including artists, actors, atheletes and musicians. They were unveiled by Michael Eisner, then CEO of the Walt Disney Company in Orlando on November 18, 2003, beginning starting nearly 2 years of celebration. The original 75 statues went on a 700,000 mile tour of the U.S. The finale of the tour ended at Sotheby's w new President, Robert Iger participated in the auction of these magnificent statues, the proceeds benefiting over 50 charitable organizations including Make-A-Wish Foundation, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Southern California Chaper, Children's Miracle Network and the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric Aids Foundation. The auction was held on September 27, 2005. Westland Giftware has been authorized to recreate some of these great pieces as a collectible figurine. "Mickey Through the Years" was designed by Disney character Artist, Tuck Morgan. As a creator for more than 20 years of many Disney merchandising initiatives, Tuck's Mickey shows the original Mickey as seen in the 1928 cartoon, "Steamboat Willie" which is juxtaposed against the image of the current modern style of Mickey! A wonderful addition for collectors and friends of Mickey Mouse! Approximately 5.5" tall; base about 2.5" long and 2" deep. This item is sold new and comes in its original packing and box. It will be well packaged for the winning buyer. It has been stored in a non-smoking home and removed only to be photographed for this auction.
