I ship FAST, so you can get this item for the holidays! Disney Mickey Mouse Big Fig from Disney Catalog. The statue is 18 1/2'' by 13'' by 9'' with a base of 2'' by 12 1/2'' by 8 1/2''. The statue is hand-painted and made of sculpted resin. The piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA). This big fig is the same design as one of the HUGE Mickey statues designed by various cast members and celebrities a few years ago. This particular one is a reproduction of #74 "I Speak for Mickey and Mickey Speaks for Me" by Wayne Allwine and Russi Taylor - Disney Legend. T
WAYNE ALLWINE AND RUSSI TAYLOR are voice artists-and a married couple-most famous for their vocal roles as Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Wayne was an award-winning sound effects artist at Disney (w his mentor was the legendary Jimmy Macdonald) who started performing the voice of Mickey at the request of the original voice, Walt Disney. Becoming Mickey's official voice in 1977, Wayne met fellow voice artist Russi Taylor-Minnie's official voice since 1985-during the recording of the television special, Disney's Totally Minnie (1988)-the start of a wonderful friendship that led to a wonderful marriage. As the voices of the world's most famous characters, Wayne and Russi have a strong sense of guardianship, but feel that Mickey and Minnie belong to the world...not them. This one was my favorite, it is Mickey wearing a mickey mouse club hat, and a Walt Disney t shirt! It is hard to part with this item, but I am downsizing my collection. is some more info on the origin of these statues that inspired this Big Fig: November 18, 2003, marks the 75th anniversary of Mickey Mouse, who debuted in the first synchronized sound cartoon, "Steamboat Willie," on November 18, 1928. The Walt Disney Company is honoring Mickey Mouse's 75th Anniversary by kicking off 18 months of celebration beginning at Walt Disney World® Resort with the unveiling of 75 uniquely designed, 700-pound, 6-foot-tall Mickey statues. The program is called "Celebrate Mickey: 75 InspEARations" and it is a tribute to Mickey from an impressive array of his friends that includes Disney Legends, as well as actors, artists and athletes. Participating artists include Wayne Allwine, Jerry Bruckheimer, Ellen Degeneres, Andreas Deja, Jamie Lee Curtis, Annette Funicello, James Gandolfini, Tom Hanks, Tony Hawk, Elton John, John Travolta and Wyland, to name a few. After the unveiling, the statues will be on display at Walt Disney World until the end of February for guests to enjoy. From t, the statues are scheduled to visit a variety of cities across the U.S. before being auctioned off for charity in 2005. All 75 statues will be on display at Disneyland Theme Parks beginning January 10 - February 22, 2005. Then the statues head east, making their way to Washington D.C. w all 75 will be on display at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20004. Finally they were displayed at Southbys in NYC and auctioned off for various charities. My home is a non-smoking home. Payment is expected within 5 days of winning the auction.
