This is an original comparative sizes model sheet from Mickey's Amateurs produced in 1937 by Walt Disney Studios. This is not a copy but an original used by the artists that made the short. Authenticated and framed by the very reputable American Royal Arts Corp in Westbury NY, it shows Mickey Mouse in 6 poses along with Donald Duck, Cluck and Bell. Model sheets consist of a series of sketches of a character in various poses and perspectives. This sheet is circulated among the animators at work on the film, as a guide for the artists, to assure uniformity in each animation cel. As these were hand sketched and duplicated in very limited numbers, for temporary use, there are very few original model sheets that survive. An original model sheet is a piece of original creative art which is sure to be treasured by collectors. Frame measures 16-1/2" high by 19" wide, model sheet measures 9' high by 13-1/4" wide and is double matted. Frame is in good condition, light wear will not photograph so I will describe, has a small chip on the top left back corner, bottom right side corner finish starting to lift a little and some light surface scratches which are barely visible, the model sheet artwork itself is in excellent condition, 73 years young. Stamped Library of the Walt Disney Studios. An absolute must have for any Disney collector. The framing and plackard alone for a piece like this would cost well over $100. Very low starting bid with no reserve. I have included a link to the short Mickeys Amateurs on youtube, you can see where each pose from the model sheet is used in the cartoon. An interesting thing that makes this particular short stand out is that Donald Duck at one point takes out a machine gun and shoots at the audience, something you would never see in today's cartoons.
