DISNEY MONORAIL PLAYSET CUSTOM TRAIN HIGH SPEED MOTOR This auction is for a Custom Built Disney World Monorail Playset with the rare retired Yellow Stripe, in mint condion, just no box. It is a complete set with all tracks and support beams, but this one is special! I custom built this with a high performance motor that puts out twice the RPM's and pushes the normally slow moving Monorail to twice it's normal speed! How cool is that? While I was installing it, I put in new gears and lubed all the moving parts with white lithium grease for smooth running, plus you have an 8 year old Monorail with a 1 day old motor. This is one of the first of these that has been sold on Ebay for years (the others were mine as well), so be the first on your block to own one! (this is my original post, I've sold about 25 of these now with many references about how pleased my guests are with the faster engines, not one didn't love it!) The Yellow stripe Monorail can garner $150, you can have it with a motor that runs at the speed it ought to have been designed to run. Let me mention t are no changes to the physical structure of the Monorail, none of my work is visible, it looks just as it would have when the box was opened. Even if you did open the casing (which I don't recommend as you may have trouble re-seating the wires or break the resistor free unless you really know what you're doing) you won't be able to tell any difference even inside the case. What a great surprise gift this would be for the Monorail fan on your list. It will use batteries a little faster, although I did add the resistor to the circuit, but rechargeable AA's might be a good idea. I ran it for quite some time to test it, but not long enough to drain them, so the difference is negligible. (but not one of my owners noticed any draw) This took me literally months to find the exact motor as t are dozens of models of the exact same shape and size, and the intricate soldering is challenging for an inexperienced model builder. The additional speed makes the speed to scale ratio much more like the real thing at the park, Disney Monorails would have to go about 10 miles an hour to match the scale of the stock motor. I ran mine with all five cars and raced a single engine with no tenders and lapped the Disney standard engine in just half a lap! . Included in this set are over 14 feet of track, 12 curved and 2 straight, so you can make a circle or an oval display. It makes a 5 foot by 4 foot length of track. It also goes forward and reverse, has a working headlight and has the famous greeting in a built in recording. It automatically repeats at approximately one revolution each time "Please stay clear of the doors, on behalf of the cast of the Walt Disney Resort"...etc., you know the rest! You can shut it off and still run the Monorail. What a fantastic train for your display or a gift for the Disney fan in your house! I ship using packing peanuts, bubble wrap and great boxes (usually new ones I buy specially fit to ship these in) so your item shows up in great shape. I never ship in butcher paper or some broken down box I found in my garage or at the market.
