Disney Sleeping Beauty Cells 1950's Restoration Project

Three (3) Original Celluloid's from Sleeping Beauty Up for auction are 3 original Walt Disney Celluloid's used in the production of Sleeping Beauty. These three cells are severely damaged. They were part of the "Art of Animation" exhibit in Tomorrowland for many years. When that part of Disneyland was remodeled, the "Art of Animation" was torn down. I worked at the park at this time and had an opportunity to get these cells upon demolition of the exhibit. They were never intended for sale, only for public education and demonstration. They were never protected, thus why they are now so damaged. I have taken several photos of the cells with the bottom cell, first in progression. The yellow paper was the background as when I took possession. Please notice how much of the paint is stuck to that paper! In progression from the bottom to the top cell, you can see the extent of the damage from cell to cell. One cell has adhered, in one way or another, to the next. The cell next to the yellow paper seems to be the only one with any lines left on it. Originally these 3 cells were stapled together from the exhibit. I took the staples off and photographed the cells separately, with white paper behind them, so you can see the details of the damage. It is very sad that these beautiful cells were not preserved from the beginning. They originally were not thought of as "art" so were unfortunately not respected. Who would have ever guessed that this type of production art would ever be valued. Now is the chance for someone with real passion for Disney history to hopefully restore one or all of these cells to be preserved forever. These cells have been in my possession since 1962.
