DISNEY STORE MICKEY AND THE BEANSTALK COLLECTOR'S PREMIUM DISPLAY Just in time for Christmas! This collector's premium display is d irect from one of Americaâe(tm)s largest private collections of Disney store display characters. In 1988, the first 12 original Disney store scenes were created depicting scenes from classic character short cartoons, as well as the elaborate front window diplay âeoeMickeyâe(tm)s Toy Shoppeâe (not from a Disney short). Most displays were seen above visitorsâe(tm) heads at about 9 feet off the floor, surrounding the store perimeter. One of the most sophisticated scenes was called âeoeMickey and the Beanstalkâe. The classic Mickey, Donald, Goofy short told the story of a giant who came from the clouds to steal a kingdomâe(tm)s magical singing harp. The kingdom (Happy Valley) was no longer happy until Mickey and Toupe, climbed a beanstalk and brought back the singing harp. In one scene, Mickey accidentally loses a magic bean as it falls between the floor boards of the trioâe(tm)s house. That night, as they sleep, the bean grows into a huge stalk, actually lifting the house into the clouds as it gently tears the house into pieces on its way. This Mickey display sees the storyâe(tm)s hero seated on a beanstalk leaf which has grown up through the chimney on the top of his house. You can see that Mickey has a bag of jewels tied to his belt that came from the giants home. This display also featured Donald Duck who was handing the recaptured magic harp down to Goofy. The display had a large portion of the homeâe(tm)s rooftop, and more bean vines and leaves tangled through the roof leading to a 4âe(tm)x8âe(tm) plywood painted âeoeflatâe of a forced perspective of the stalk leading to the clouds with the giant pictured in the distance, beginning his climb downward. Mickey, like all first generation originals, was hand cast of heavy-duty fiberglass, and then hand painted. It is estimated that about 70 of these were produced, and all but about 10 of these Mickey characters still exist as Disney originally had stores destroy figures upon closing. Eventually, Disney decided to save some figures to auction on Disney (now defunct) e-bay auctions. The chances of finding Mickey in his chimney is exceptionally rare because even when Disney decided to save/sell the characters, the props and backgrounds were still ordered to be destroyed. This collector knows of only 2 other chimneys like this that were âeoesavedâe by extraordinary means and then later reunited with the characters. The condition of Mickey and his real cloth clothes are excellent with no blemishes, fading, or water stains detected. The chimney is in very good condition with 2 notable deficiencies. The vine on the chimney exterior which was screwed to touch the chimney exterior corner has pulled away. This could be epoxied and painted to near-original condition. The leaf has several small red paint chips add to its main surface. In gently picking at these chips, they do release themselves revealing the original leaf green below but some of these paint chips are stubborn. When the character is attached (via a very sturdy metal square peg/hole system), you cannot see these red paint chips on the leaf. While this display does have typical wear for being on display and stored/transported, its present conditionâe(tm)s overall impression to a casual viewer is outstanding. The construction on the chimney is a base of plywood with carved foam and fiberglass encapsulation. T is a sturdy metal bar protruding flush to the bottom which allows the display to be screwed to any flat surface. The entire unit is approximately 30 inches tall by 28 inches wide. This can be broken down into 2 pieces for more economical shipping purposes. Remember, the buyer pays actual shipping fees plus $50 packing/handling. You may arrange to pick up or we are happy to ship anyw in the world. Bonus: The collector is including a special bonus of a ...
