This auction is for a complete prize collection from the now-retired "Who Wants to be a Millionaire - Play It!" attraction at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. These prizes were only awarded to those who were lucky enough to play in the hot seat. This is a complete collection consisting of all prizes possible and were only obtainable by correctly answering all 15 questions and winning 1,000,000 points . During the attraction's 5 year life span and thousands upon thousands of players in the hot seat, only 126 contestants won this prize package. Seeing a complete collection like this unheard of and is practically a once in a lifetime opportunity that may be your one and only chance to bring home these exceedingly rare prizes - especially now that the attraction has been closed for nearly 4 years and none of these items are obtainable from Disney anymore. Also included in this auction are some other extremely rare and unobtainable items from the attraction that are explained in more detail below.
ABOUT THE "MILLIONAIRE - PLAY IT!" ATTRACTION The attraction opened in Walt Disney World's MGM/Disney Hollywood Studios on April 7th, 2001. The attraction was a replica of the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" set as seen on TV, except built to hold a much larger audience. At the beginning of the game, a "fastest finger" question was played. All audience members participated in this question. Whichever audience member put the answers in the correct order in the fastest time would advance to the hot seat in the middle of the studio and play the game just like on TV! The hot seat player was asked up to 15 multiple choice questions. Correctly answering a question gained the hot seat player points (in lieu of dollars like on TV) that represented various prizes. Each question had a matching collectible Disney pin, and milestone questions (1,000, 32,000 and 1 Million point levels) had extra prizes - a hat, a shirt, and a 1 Million point grand prize of a medallion, a jacket, and a cruise for the contestant and 3 friends or family members to the Bahamas. During play, the contestant was the star of the show with many cameras focusing right on them and projecting to 3 super-sized jumbo screens in the studio. The contestant played the game just as contestants do on the television show with a few minor changes. At the time, a clock was not used on the television show, but the contestant did have a time limit for every question (15 seconds for the first 5 questions, 30 seconds for the second set of 5, 45 seconds for the next 4, and 55 seconds for the million point question.) The contestant had 3 lifelines to help them out during gameplay - 50:50, Ask the Audience, and Phone and Complete Stranger. If the contestant incorrectly answered a question, they would lose a portion of their prizes and their game would be over. ITEMS INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION: Long-Sleeved Souvenir Shirt This shirt was available for general purchase when the attraction was new. It is sized as XXL. Cast Member-Only Souvenir Card This flip open card has a medallion attached to the middle with the "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" logo engraved across it's face. It was only given to cast members who made it into the hot seat during the attraction preview before it was opened to the general public. Audience Keypad These keypads were installed at every seat in the attraction (around 600). During the game, the audience would use these keypads to input their answer to each question which was used to calculate who had the highest score and would play in the hot seat at the end of the current contestant's game. They were also used to play the fastest finger challenge at the beginning of the show, and for the "Ask the Audience" lifeline. Fast Passes A general momento from the attraction. These fast passes are great souvenirs and were unobtainable towards the end of the attraction's life span when Disney discontinued the use of the service for the attraction. Premiere Event Gold Medallion It is unclear how ...
