You don't come across these too often any more. This is a neat vintage bank which as I understand it was a Haunted House or Haunted Mansion which related to a Disneyland promotion. A couple of kind folks have told me that this was made by the Brumberger Co., probably dates to 1966, and actually has quite a high book value. I've seen it referred to as the Mystery Bank in a couple of places. The bottom of this is plastic, sides metal, and top plastic. This take a couple of large batteries - sorry batteries not included and I forgot to make note of what size these are supposed to be, but I think it needs 2 size D batteries. This is about 9 inches from front to back and about 7 5/8 inches high. This is a beauty with one exception. You can place a coin on the front area, and the noise starts and the door slowly opens the ghost comes out to quickly snatch the coin and go back in. The all works fine except that for whatever reason it doesn't take the coin with him. In addition, the light above the door just barely flickers. I have tried different types and sizes of coins and it makes contact just fine, but it leave the coin behind. Perhaps these things could be addressed, but quite frankly this is really cool the way it is. In fact, I had some reservations parting with it, but I have too many different collections the way it is. This would really be a unique bank for Disney item for someone. Thanks for looking.
