I have been asked by an elderly friend of mine to sell a number of items that she has decided to let go of. She is in her 90s and is the last of her line. I have placed at auction a collection / accumulation of old family documents , receipts , military papers , indentures , legal papers , letters , financial accounts , appointments and other assorted ephemera. These items are related to the Dixon and Peck families primarily yet many other names appear as official signatures and such. The families are from the Central New York area. Mostly Cayuga county. The documents date overwhelmingly from the 19th century with a few items reaching into the 20th including an interesting diary relating to a trip to Florida in 1917. Pasted into the pages of the diary are one of a kind , original , photographs of silent movie star THEDA BARA and other people , postcards news clippings and other things. T is an official Presidential appointment to postmaster in Port Byron , New York signed by United States President Chester A. Arthur. This document includes the Presidential seal with ribbons. T is another document signed by Timothy Howe as Postmaster General. T are over 100 items in this box and I find it difficult to read most of them.
