Here is a highly unusual group of three perforated initial or perfinned Druckmuster (printing sample or specimen) German postal stationery (ganzsachen) cards picturing dolphins and killer whales (Orcas) at Duisburg zoo. One 50pf card shows while dolphins (?), one shows a boy riding a dolphin and the third depicts killer whales leaping out of the water. The cards are dated 1980 or '81 and are in very fine, as-new condition. Interestingly, the "Druckmuster" stamp is vertical on the boy and dolphin card, which is unusual and hardly ever seen in my experience. I have put the reverse of another, similar card of people in costumes at Schonach in the scan to show this perfin printing better. I will include the fourth card in this lot unless the buyer does not want it. According to the small print at the lower left 40,000 of each of these cards were printed, but I would imagine the number of sample cards was a tiny fraction of that. The vertical specimen mark is scarcer still. This card is from a collection of Druckmuster cards I acquired recently, and more will be listed in weeks to come. Excellent dolphin, whale, maritime animal, zoo and specialised postal stationery cards and a good group for the collectors of specimen items. As I now have an eBay shop anyone who purchases one of my items might want to look there before paying. Additional read more
