Vernon Kilns Don Blanding Maroon Hawaiian Flowers 30 Piece Set Owned by my Mother Lana Turner. Mother made her first trip to the Islands in the early 1940s after filming "Marriage is a Private Affair" w she acquired this beautiful set of china. Every piece is signed "Hawaiian Flowers Designed by Aloha Don Blanding, Vernon Kilns, Made in USA" (pictured) Because the set was maroon, she insisted on using them for Thanksgiving, many famous people have dined off of them with her including John Waters, Lily Tomlin , Jane Wagner to name a few. Included in the set are the following: 1 Large Platter 14 inches wide, 1 Medium Platter 12 inches wide, 1 Serving Bowl 9 inches wide, 4 Dinner Plates 10 1/2 inches, 2 Luncheon Plates 9 1/2 inches, 4 Salad Plates 7 1/2 inches (one plate has been mended) 4 Fruit Bowls 5 1/2 inches, 4 Bread and Butter 6 1/2 inches, 4 Cups and 3 Saucers (one missing) 1 Cream Pitcher and 1 Sugar Bowl with Lid. The entire set is pictured above next to a Photo of my Mother measuring 17 inches by 14 1/2 inches.
