This is a 1969 New York Mets Portfolio of Stars put out by Stark of the New York Daily News (as in sports cartoonist Bruce Stark) celebrating the 1969 version of the New York Mets. Of course, the Mets were an expansion squad in 1962, a group of retreads and loveable losers led by Marvelous Marv Throneberry that caused manager Casey Stengel to ask, Can anyone play this game? But slowly but surely the Mets began to build, a talented squad, some timely trades, an outstanding pitching staff, and a cagey manager in Brooklyn Dodgers slugger Gil Hodges back from Washington. And while 1967 and 1968 looked promising, in 1969 it all came together in the year of Miracles, the 1969 miracle mets. So the Daily News put out this set of portraits of all the stars, day by day in the New York Daily News, t are 20 including Tom Seaver, Nolan Ryan, Jerry Koosman, manager Gil Hodges, and many others. This group of 17 doesn't include Seaver, Hodges, or Ryan, but does include the rest, including Jerry Koosman, Don Cardwell. Art Shamsky, Ron Taylor, Al Weis, Ron Swoboda Tommie Agee, Donn Clendenon, Wayne Garrett, Ken Boswell Gary Gentry, Bud Harrelson, Jerry Grote Cleon Jones, Tug McGraw, Jim McAndrew, Ed Kranepool. In generally very good to fine condition, some yellowing brittleness typical for this tabloid newspaper format, overall portraits themselves are terrific, a great collectible! Donn Clendenon is pictured, I added images of all of them. In any event, I've set a LOWWWW opening bid with NO RESERVE don't let this great New York Mets collectible go by without making a bid!
