A beautifully restored, polished and fully functioning solid cast brass Connell`s Patent 1874 door bell and ornate cast brass ring handle. The cast iron base is stamped "Pat April 28 th 1874". This 130 + year old Victorian Eastlake style door bell and ringer works smoothly and delivers a beautiful loud clear ring. The ring lever is not marked Connell`s. These were often purchased separately from the bells. Being cast and unpolished, the ringing lever mechanism appears more orange than the highly polished bell. The polished bell is not lacquered and will soon re-patina unless clear coated. The bell and ringer are large, full sized and weigh 2.6 pounds collectively. This is not your average little spin mechanism door bell that sounds like a kid`s bicycle bell. The base of the bell mechanism measures 5 7/8 inches from one mounting tab to the other. The brass bell alone measures 2 1/4 inches tall x 4 3/4 inches in diameter. The ringing lever ornate cast brass plate measures 4 1/8 in tall x 2 3/4 wide and is 1/8 in. thick. The iron lever bar measures 2 3/4 in in length and will work on doors up to 2 in. thick. The shipping is for any of the 50 US states and includes full insurance and tracking.
