Herb had a keep sense of patterns and how they fit on blanks, and plates often showed the patterns the best. He sold a lot of reproduction 7", 10" and 15" plates. If you asked about a pattern or had done business with him he would often have a piece he wanted to show you and would pull it out from a box under the table (these would almost always be the reproductions.)
