We are pleased to offer this exceptional double butterfly calling card tray or stand for auction. It was manufactured circa 1880 in the Aesthetic Movement taste by the Wm. Rogers Mfg. Co. of Hartford, Connecticut. The condition is exceptional, especially for a piece of this antiquity. T are no dents, dings or large scratches. We didn't see any signs of repairs. If t ever were repairs, they were apparently well-executed. The rich silverplating is beautiful, with extremely light wear noted. All of the ornate cast fretwork is intact and firmly attached to the tray, as are the legs. The elegant engraved pattern inside the tray compliments the delightful floral filigree , but it is the gorgeous figural butterflies which steal the show with this piece. Both are completely intact, and rise 0.75 inches from the filigree which they perch upon. Their wing span is approximately 1.00 inch; these are nice, large butterflies. The tray spans about 7.00 inches from butterfly to butterfly. The width is slightly over 5.75 inches, and the tray stands about 3.00 inches high to the tops of the wings. It is appropriately stamped, "Wm. Rogers Mfg. Co., Hartford, Conn., Quadruple Plate". If you collect antique calling card trays, this treasure would make a fabulous addition. The style is utterly charming, and it is being auctioned with No Reserve.
