Offered is an impressive and rare item for the specialist trilobite collector; this is a piece of limestone matrix with two finely preserved complete, prone examples of the lower Middle Cambrian Redlichid Hydrocephalus vikensis (Rushton 2007)..............the largest specimen is 1 4cm positive, missing only the librigena and the other specimen, at 2cm + is a fine negative, with librigena intact.There is some (very good) restoration on the left palpebral area of the larger specimen, but this does not distract and the specimen has retained good relief. Matrix approx 7cm X 4.5cm X 0.5cmThe locality, discovered only in recent times, is near Viken, in a remote part of Jamtland, central Sweden and specimens on the open market are few and far between. The species is endemic to this region.Modest reserve for a rarely offered Swedish trilobite double in complete condition!
