Rare vintage Douglas DC-8 desktop metalmodel with chrome finish from the late ‘50’s.
Under the base is this information: K & B Allyn Co. Manufacturers Los Angeles 58 Cal. Both sides of the fuselage say Douglas DC-8. The tail number is N80000. The decals show some wear in a number of areas which I hope are depicted in the photos. This item measures about 10 inches from one end of the wing to the other. It measures about 11 inches from the nose of the plane to the end of the tail. Depending on how you pivot it on the base, it stands about 7 1/4 inches in height. There is some pitting on the model itself and the base which I would consider typical of an item that is 50+ years old. The model needs a careful cleaning and polishing which I will leave to the new owner. Quite frankly, I am reluctant to do this for lack of knowledge of the best techniques to use – ie I could probably do more harm than good. The item will be double-boxed, insured and well-packed for shipment via UPS Ground to the auction winner within 3 working days of sale. I only ship to the Continental U.S. No Reserve and No Returns. Thanks For Looking!
