This Dolton Lambeth 1874 majestic wine pitcher or flagon stands 10.5 inches tall, including its silver flip lid with thumb rest. Base measures 3 inches diameter, and mouth 2.5 inches. Rich majolica glaze in chocolate brown, tan and blue in a swirled pattern with raised flowers of different designs and sizes. Base is clearly marked DOULTON LAMBETH 1874 in the oval impression. I believe the silver lid is sterling, but I can find no hallmarks, which leads me to believe the silver may have been added later in its life? Handle is strong and intact, but t are some cracks about .5 inch above w the handle connects to the body. This is an old repair, which perhaps explains the silver 'make-do'. Also, t is one flower missing from just under the handle. Other than these two flaws, just wonderful! No chipping, crazing or flakes. This is an incredible piece of early Doulton Lambeth.
