Visit My eBay Store-"Doulton Flambé-"Doulton Reference Books" Description: A rare example of Doulton's excursion into different flambé glazes, which is called Mandarin Ware. Here is a small bowl produced what almost looks like the skin of a melon. Very few of these were ever produced either because of difficulties in the production or the lack of demand. See the photos which do not really show this unique glaze very well. Dimensions : It is 6" in Diameter . Condition: This piece is in mint condition. No scratches, chips, cracks, pits or restorations. Mark/Date : This piece bears the post 1932 Royal Doulton Flambé backstamp. Probably done in the 1960's for a very short time. Extremely Rare!!!!!!!!!! Mandarin Ware Flambé In the 1950's/60's Joe Ledger (Art Director) developed an all-new flambé glaze to be used for some of his animal models. This was a mottled blue and green color which he called Mandarin Ware. You will see some of this used on the Chatcull Animals but hardly ever on the other flambé range of patterns of trays, vases, etc. Apparently it was not an easy glaze to produce and it was never put into a production mode. Thus these are some of the rarest of the flambé glazes to be found. Please note that we endeavor to describe the condition of items to the best of our ability.
