Pack of 2-dozen (24) New 17mm diameter x 5mm-thick Smooth Round-profile Tyres (Tires) for Dinky Toys. The second most-commonly used tyre on pre-1958 Dinkies, this tyre is second only to the “standard” 15mm diameter x 4mm-thick smooth tyres listed in a separate auction. The illustration indicates the models which used this tyre. This is the chunkier smooth tyre, equivalent to Meccano’s 6676 (094) tyre. Usually termed the “25-series tyre” it was used on all 25-series type-2 and type-3 regular-size Dinky trucks/wagons prior to 1948, on the 25H (250) Fire Engine, 30f Bentley Ambulance, and the six cars in the 36-series. The small 23a racing car and the 23b Hotchkiss racing car also had this smooth tyre. From 1947 it was fitted to the Guy trucks and vans, the Bedford trucks, and the Commer Breakdown Truck. And the 1950’s regular-size 600-series Military Vehicles had this tyre until 1958, when the 17mm square-tread “army” tyre was launched.
