This is an absolutely beautifully flame-grained Dr. Grabow Golden Duke apple model pipe made by the Sparta, N.C., pipe makers in the 1980s or '90s. It has the traditional white spade logo.The Golden Duke was introduced in the era of the historical R. J. Reynolds/Dr. Grabow coupon pipe offerings, one of the most successful coupon programs of all times that put good pipes at reasonable prices into the hands of smokers for three decades.This pipe has a push-style stem that accepts a standard Dr. Grabow or Medico filter. It can be smoked with or without the filter. The ABS plastic mouthpiece, which dates the pipe between the early 1980s and late 1990s, has some very light tooth marks on the underside but I do not grind down mouthpieces and destroy their structural integrity. The air channel through the shank and into the bowl has been hand rebored to a precise 4mm. The pipe has been smoked but restored well. I don't smoke dirty pipes, tfore I don't sell dirty pipes. This one has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. It is a good serviceable older pipe.It is 5-1/2 inches long. The inside diameter of the tobacco chamber is 7/8 of an inch.
