CONDITION: VERY GOOD+ "YOU MUST SEE THE PICS AND ITEM CONDITIONS!!!" DR PEPPER TWELVE (12) PACK METAL CARRIER!!! . This is a VERY RARE vintage 12-pack metal carrier from Dr Pepper! While the 6-pack carriers are rare, the twelve pack carriers are very hard to come by, especially in good condition. This is in extremely good shape as shown in the pictures! On both sides it states, “METAL CARRIER CORP., GRAND RAPIDS MICH. PAT. APPL’D FOR – MADE IN USA”. I WHAT AN EXCITING VINTAGE COLLECTABLE! . Also on both sides is stamped, “SINTON TEXAS”. Sinton was the home of an independent Dr Pepper Bottling Co. for many years that covered 8 counties north east of the Dr Pepper Bottling Company of Corpus Christi, TX. For many years they tried to buy the Sinton Company, but the owner would not sell. It was not until the 1970’s that the main Dr Pepper Co. in Dallas bought the Corpus Christi operation and subsequently the Sinton, TX company. The Corpus Christi Company operated Sinton and Kingsville as satellite distribution centers until Dr Pepper and Seven Up merged (creating Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc.). I IT SIMPLY DOES NOT GET MUCH RARER THAN THIS! . DETAILED CONDITION : VERY GOOD + Logo #1: Excellent! Colors are vivid. Only 3 very small flecks of paint missing (1/10” oval; 1/32” oval; & 2/10” x 1/32”). Logo #2: Excellent! Colors are vivid. Only 2 very small flecks of paint missing @ first “e”. Side #1: Excellent! Side #2: Excellent! Bottom: Several typical but small rust spots around some of the drainage holes, but all-in-all Good + Top: Has some wear on the aluminum, but no rust! Inside Dividers & Sides: Very Good! Inside Bottom: Typical heavy rust from spillage. SHIPPING & HANDLING : Ø Take $1.50 off for each additional item shipped together (please visit my store)! SOME INTERESTING “DR PEPPER” HISTORY: In 1885, in Waco, Texas, a young pharmacist called Charles Alderton invented the soft drink "Dr Pepper". Alderton worked at a place called Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store and carbonated drinks were served at the soda fountain. Alderton invented his own recipes for soft drinks and found one of his drinks was becoming very popular. His customers originally asked for the drink by asking Alderton to shoot them a "Waco". Morrison, owner of the drug store is credited with naming the drink "Dr Pepper" after a friend of his, Dr. Charles Pepper. Later in the 1950s the period was removed from the "Dr Pepper" name. As demand grew Alderton and Morrison had trouble manufacturing enough "Dr Pepper" for their customers. Then in stepped Robert S. Lazenby. Lazenby owned The Circle "A" Ginger Ale Company in Waco and was impressed with "Dr Pepper". Alderton did not want to pursue the business and manufacturing end of soft drinks and agreed that Morrison and Lazenby should take over and become partners. In 1891, Morrison and Lazenby formed the Artesian Mfg. & Bottling Company, which later became the Dr Pepper Company. In 1904, the company introduced Dr Pepper to 20 million people attending the 1904, World's Fair Exposition, in St. Louis.
