This item is a Dresden double handled cup and saucer hand painted by the Helena Wolfsohn studio, using the AR mark, c. 1843 - 1883. She used variations of this Miessen mark until Meissen successfully sued to prevent her from doing so. Both the cup and saucer are slightly oval in shape. The cup measures approx. 3" (plus handles) X 2 3/4" at its rim X 3 1/4" H. The saucer is approx. 5 1/2" X 4 7/8" at its rim X 1 1/4" H. In addition to the gilt, both are decorated with four alternating panels. Two depicting courting scenes on a white background and two with floral sprays on a pink background. T are some very minor wear spots on the gilt around the rim of the cup, otherwise, both are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. This is part of a very large collection which I recently inherited from my mother who collected Dresden and other vintage porcelain for over 30 years. I hope to be listing a few pieces at a time. I am not personally a collector, but will try to provide descriptions and photographs which accurately depict the item and an accurate assessment of condition. In addition to the notes/ receipts she left, the two principal sources I rely on for dates and markings are: "Dresden Porcelain Studios" by Jim & Susan Harran and "Marks of German,Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain, 1710 to Present" by Robert E. Rontgen.
