German Courting Figurines
Antiques:Ceramics, Porcelain:Figurines:Dresden (click picture for more detail) These are two meticulously made figurines of a young gentleman and a young lady courting. They are stamped with an early Dresden German âeoeCrown MZâe stamp by Muller & Company in dark blue (Muller Vokdstedt). T is also a crossed swords mark on one piece. The word âeoeGermanyâe is stamped on the bottom of each piece. These were made in the early 20th century. The glazes are even and brilliant and the colors are sharp and bright. The colors are canary yellow, apple green, lilac and maroons. The skin color is true and the eyes and lips perfectly drawn. The courting young gentleman, who exudes confidence in his movement, wears a Dresden lace ascot and sleeve cuffs. His vest is painted with tiny blue flowers with red petals and green leaves. The shy maiden is adorned in a frilly lace dress with lace sleeves. Her dress is decorated with applied flowers, and she carries a bouquet of flowers which I would suspect the gentleman just presented to her. The round bases are trimmed in gold gilt, as are the support rises which help add to the strength of each of the figures balance and beauty. I do not see any breakage or missing pieces on either of these figures. They are in excellent condition! I am sure they were kept in a very safe glass cabinet by my grandmother, who was a collector of fine porcelain. Many of her items were purchased at the Marshal Fieldâe(tm)s Company Antique Department in Chicago. I have kept these items packed away in closed storage for the past 30 years. They are truly lovely and have come to life right in front of me with their lovely elegance! Dimensions: Each figures is 4 ¼âe high; Bases are 1 ¾âe diameter; gentleman is 2âe wide at widest point and lady is 2 ½âe wide at widest point.
