This spectacularly imposing three tier compote is hand painted with approximately forty bird groupings. No two bird designs are alike. Butterflies and insects are profusely scattered about. Both the undersides and the interiors of the platters, base, and central supports are intricately painted with the bird and insect motif. The piece is bolted, secured by a delicate floral finial at the center of the topmost bowl. The three tier piece measures 16½ " high. The bowls are 10½", 9¼", and 8" in diameter. The base bears the mark AR from the studios of Helena Wolfsohn of the late 1800s. The compote is in fine condition having one small chip on the base rim of one bowl. This is only on the underside and the piece has to be inspected upside down for it to be seen. T are no cracks, chips, or wear PLEASE SEE MY LISTINGS FOR THE PAIR TO THIS PIECE.
