Oval Meissen Porcelain Vegetable/relish Serving Dish. These were bought in Bavaria in 1941. While my dad was Serving an overseas Military Tour in Bavaria at the Kassern. My mom, before I was in the picture went antique shopping quite often especially overseas.T two serving dishes carry the Meissen Marks: Meissen's Crossed Swords, hand-painted in coblat blue and double-fired. The oval dish, the Swords have not been crossed out, that represents the dish is flawless in every way. The triangle dish however has two lines through the Swords showing that this piece has either the painting or modeling flaw somew on the piece.By looking at the triangle serving dish the flaw is in the hand-painting, it looks like someone had taken a needle and poked it into the paint on the flat bottom of the plate. But in reality what they are, are air holes from the bubbles breaking from the second fire and caused the cobalt blue paint to burp air. Personally because they are on the botton of the dish what ever you put in the dish would cover them up. They are very small. .............................................................................................................................................. OVAL DISH 1 pound 3 oz. 10 5/8 long 7 1/2in wide 1 11/2in deep..2in high at the ends 1 1/2in high in the middle.... TRIANGLE DISH 1 pound 2oz. each side corner to corner 8 1/2in X 8 1/2in. X 8 1/2in. 1 1/2in high. I tried to get an idea w to begin the bid, and went to an Official web sit for replacements for Meissen and I could not find and serving dishes this size or shape for reference. The replacement cost for the tringular serving plate on the web site, replacements(dot)com Meissen Porcelain is $149.99 and the oval serving vegetable plate is $129.99 . This up and coming Holiday season you can showase your Dinner Table with your new added Meissen pieces to your collections.
