This is a fine porcelain group done in the detail Scheibe-Alsbach is known for. It depicts a man leaning on a marble balcony who appears to be telling a story to the seated young lady and the man she is leaning against. The detail of this piece is just amazing! t is a fold in the porcelain to look like the rug is disheveled, also on her dress, and you can even see wrinkles in the stockings the standing man is wearing. T is an open book next to the seated man.You can see the bottom half of a mandolin sticking out from under the woman's skirt. She is seated on a green pillow that matches the stool on the left. The story teller is wearing garb that looks like it came from a Shakespeare play, the seated man is wearing a robe type garment. This piece displays beautifully, the only damage notes it to the standing man's outstretched right hand, which is missing the fingers and thumb. The hand was made as a separate piece to slide out of the sleeve, I don't know if this was to offer some protection or what. It is marked on the back of the base with the blue crossed lines over an S mark and impressed numbers that look like 911 above a 4. The bottom has Germany in blue. It is heavy and will be at least 10 pounds boxed. It measures about 10.25" high and 14" wide. is info from a fellow ebayer: You are right about the Shakespearean garb of the read more
