Madame Alexander made dotted swiss "extra dresses" in several colors--with square necklines, fitted bodices, gorgeous insertion lace and velvet trim at the neckline, and puffed sleeves of netting, trimmed with more of that hand-gathered, really hard to find narrow vintage Val lace. I have created such a day dress, using a pattern I've drafted from an original Cissy dress--hand-gathering the narrow Val lace which is hand stitched to the beading (insertion) lace above it. Although the color of this pale blue is correct, this dress is of vintage nylon dotted swiss, rather than the typical cotton. Bodice is lined in organdy, with square snaps as closure--I've made it tighter than Madame's originals, as you purists (you know who you are!) will recognize. Val lace trims Cissy's puffed sleeves--made of vintage netting. Black velvet bows at the waist complete the look of this lovely dress. Cissy's satin can-can slip, with the correct double layer of tulle, is edged with rick rack, and is a copy of Cissy's originals. Satin panties are trimmed with hand gathered Val lace. Skirt has thecorrect circumference and two-inch hand stitched hem.
