In this auction we have a Old Dryden jug, off yellow colored., it is made with volcanic ash glaze, as marked on the Dryden Sticker. It is from the Ann Gutschke Jug Collection. Ann was a collector and displayed her pottery collection from 1933 to 1983. The pottery in her collection dates back to 1848. I purchased the complete collection in the mid 1980's just prior to her death. T were 449 pieces in this collection. She kept a log of all her pottery, but unfortunately she only noted what "she" needed to remember, and some of the pieces are hard to date. This Dryden jug is about 4" tall and around 3 1/2" in diameter at the widest area. It is in great condition, t are no marks at all, and it is like new. The Dryden sticker is present on the side, and states "Dryden - A Melody in Glaze - with Volcanic Ash". The bottom is marked with Dryden Signature and the number or mark "H - 4", This would have been made in Kansas before Dryden moved to Hot Springs Arkansas. Since we do know the history and can provide good provenance, upon request, we will send to you, along with this jug, letter stating the maker, the fact that this Dryden Jug came from and was part of Ann Gutschke original collection. Ann stopped displaying the pottery collection in 1983, and up until recently it has all been in storage. We have selected a small portion of her pottery collection to keep, and will be selling the remainder over the next few months. Please email us if you have any questions or need more detail.
