For your consideration today is this complete dug relic Bormann artillery shell with a lead alloy time fuse as shown... This shell is loaded with case shot and is just over 11- 1/2 pounds in weight, much heavier than an open chamber shell with just black powder in it... It's 4- 1/4 inches in diameter and is in found condition, with just the hevy rust knocked off... It was deactivated by a professional long ago when it was found in the late 1990's... It has a 3/8 inch hole drilled through the bottom up to the under plug beneath the fuse... I always check artillery shells that i have when i get them to be sure it's done right!!... This shell has a 3/8 x 3- 1/2 inch deep hole drilled in it and has No Powder Charge... All i could get when i flushed it out with high pressure water after soaking it in a bucket of water for three weeks was some tar and pieces of the case shot from the matrix caused by the drilling... I used a thin screwdriver to measure the depth of the hole drilled in it... The photos show the top, side, & bottom of this shell... This shell is 100% Authentic, Guarenteed from the Civil War and was recovered in Petersburg Virginia... This and all items in this artillery collection were recovered on private property with the land owners permission, back in the late 1990's.... The buyer gets the relic shown in this auction.
