Possibly one of the VERY BEST pieces I dug at the factory site years ago! This is a exploded barrel & is in great shape & also treated to prevent further rusting. As far as the reason this barrel exploded it has been noted in history book's that a few barrels were sent to Macon,Ga. for testing for strength on ignition & this may well be one of the same. It is known that after some of Mr. Griswold's barrel's ''exploded'' or did not pass that he learned that ''twisting'' the iron before machining would add extra strength!!
