Dunhill Root Briar (Bruyere) Hand-Crafted Gallic Pipe for Dunhill by Sommer

 Â

For sale is a hand-carved Dunhill root briar pipe carved for Dunhills by Sommer (c. 1957) of a gallic chieftain - complete with Bakelite stem. This piece is unstamped in the fashion of earlier pieces of this design, however due to the fact that customers like stamps the price is negotiable (using the Best Offer). Quality and age is evident from carving and stem as well as the age to the bowl due to use however there is no white dot on this piece - this occurred with a few of the pieces designed by French carvers. Pipe condition is good with one small drill hole in the side – this isn’t an isolated instance of this for these pieces. The hole was perhaps used to hang the pipes in shops etc. Approximate dimensions: 140 mm x 30 mm at widest points.  Â
