Duquesne Brewing Company Promotional Mug Early 1900s Beer Barrel Mug We have an amazing piece of Pittsburgh history for your purchasing pleasure. This is the very rare Duquesne Brewing Co. mug. It is in the shape of a barrel and has the writing "Duquesne Brewing Co. Pittsburgh, Pa" on the front. The picture is of the Duquesne Brewing Company Building, built in 1899 in the South Side of Pittsburgh. The picture depicts the building and railroad freight cars in front. Duquesne Brewing co. is known for its advertising on the side of refrigerated freight cars. The building is now known as "The Brew House Association" in the South Side Flats. It is being used as an art gallery and apartments/studios. 4" Tall 3-1/4" Across middle 2-1/2" across top and bottom "10" is posted on bottom The picture on the mug is from the early 1900's. From the research that I have done, I would date this mug from 1900 - 1950 Good vintage condition. This mug is beautiful and has a great patina. There are discolored parts and marks that could be from the firing process or aging. This is a collectible showpiece. Personally I would not use this mug as an everyday mug because of its rarity. There are not a lot of these mugs around from this iconic Pittsburgh company. The rarity of this mug requires me in good conscience to double box this piece for shipping. read more
