DURAND ART GLASS CRANBERRY CUT VASE Presented for auction is this wonderful Cranberry Art Glass Cut to Clear Vase. I acquired this piece online and they had it listed under a different category. I strongly believe this Vase was made by one of the premiere Art Glass Makers in the U.S. during the early period. This Vase has many hallmarks of the Durand Art Glass Company. First of all it's weight, it is a solid, heavy and a quality piece with a thicker wall. Secondly, the Cuttings on this Vase are characteristic of Durand's Cuttings. I have shown an image from the book, DURAND THE MAN AND HIS GLASS by Edward J. Mesch, on page 157 titled "FV6" (Floral and Vine) which shows this Cutting that is shown on this Vase represented Also note the elongated OBLONG cuttings on the flared neck, which is another characteristic of DURAND. Mesch notes in the CUTTINGS chapter, that the images shown are only a few of his many Cuttings that he did to his layered glass and the large ROSE BUD Cutting shown in the book is almost identical to the one shown on this Vase. Lastly, the whole base of this piece is Polished. Everything about this piece denotes QUALITY which you would find from one of the premiere ART GLASS Makers during the Tiffany and Stueben and Durand era. Many of Durand's pieces were not signed as they were sold with a paper label and the owner would remove the label after returning home. Even though I cannot 100% guarantee that this is a Durand piece, I am using my experience of 5 years of selling and handling ART GLASS to attribute this piece to Durand. This vase measures 8" high and has a 3 3/4" opening (from edge to edge). CONDITION: VERY FINE condition with only a few scratches shown in my image on the upper part of the neck of the Vase. NO flea bites, chips, cracks or breaks. Please note that the actual color of the Cranberry is the lighter shade shown in the image of the top view of the Vase. PLEASE ask all questions before bidding and be sure and checkout my site for newly listed items. THANK YOU for dropping by to view my auction.
