silvered and brass dial with marked with retailer`s name Spaulding & Co./Chicago, applied brass Arabic on chapter ring, outer minute ring marked with ticks and bold dots every 5 minutes, silvered seconds dial above center with Arabic every 10 seconds, set in central engraved brass floral center with matching spandrels, two secondary silvered dials in upper spandrels with left having Silent/Chimes and right with Westminster/Eight Bells, silvered tombstone top with engraved hemispheres with English country scenes and cathedral, and arched silvered days of month in Arabic with painted phase of the moon dial with sail boat scene. (Duy Ly, 1994, pg. 149, fig. 348). Brass 8-day time, strike, day, and chime triple-weight driven works with seven tube chimes and original pendulum, highly carved cherry case with arch top waist door having 17 beveled glass lights attributed to Waterford Crystal, set in cherry mullions, and carved shells flanking arch, each side of waist with 2 larger beveled glass panes, flanked by full fluted and scroll carved columns with lotus capitals, base with vertical reeded moulding with carved acanthus leaves at front corners, over recessed panel with large central carved rosette with bell flower garter surround, flanked by carved ribbons, flanked by plinths with carved bell flower drops, over carved egg and dart moulding and lion paw feet. The bonnet has carved full columns flanking the door with baluster form, lower section carved with acanthus leaves and upper in spiral with matching lotus capitals, with frieze of rose rosettes with guilloche surrounds, below dental moulding with turned drop finials at corners, below arched crest with large shell carving with set back turned finials, sides with pierced panels in oval sunburst with pierced scroll cut surrounds, all in original finish, 15` x 25` x 95` high.
