This rare dust jacketed book is: THE THIRTEENTH JUROR . A Tale Out of Court. By Frederick Trevor Hill. Illustrated by Gordon Grant. The Century Co.: NY. 1913. First Edition . 211 pages. The book measures approximately 5 3/8 by 7 3/4 inches. This is an exceptionally nice copy of the book in a flawed but still scarce dust jacket . I have never seen another dust jacketed copy for sale. The book is in fine, clean condition with a neat original owner's name on the blank front end page. The original owner was J. M. Swarthout of Allegany County, NY, a very active man of his day which, I believe, included being a Justice of the Peace. The book shows no signs of wear and the covers must look just like they did on the day they were made. The dust jacket is missing about half of the rear panel which listed other books for sale by the publisher. The top inch or so is missing from the top of the dj's spine. All dust jacket flaws are easily visible in the scans. The glare on the dust jacket scans is from the clear, protective folder that now protects it. The novel was written by Hill who was a practicing lawyer in New York. Frederick Trevor Hill (1866-1930) wrote many books and articles. He wrote both fiction like this legal, or law based, mystery as well as nonfiction works.Don't miss this great opportunity to get a scarce early American mystery read more
