From a Dutch collection is this 18th century Dutch masterdrawing.
The drawing, executed in pen, ink and grey wash on laid watermarked paper, represents a genrescene, depicting a portrait of a boat puller.
Authorship : the drawing is from the Dutch school, attributed to Batholomeus Barbiers.
BARTHOLOMEUS BARBIERS (Amsterdam 1740 - Amsterdam 1808) : Dutch 18th century artist, son and pupil of his father Pieter Barbiers. He was a skilful painter and draftsman, known for his landscapes and genrescenes.
Period : last quarter 18th century.
Size : 27,5x15,5cm.
Condition : Good. Diagonal right and bottomzone left : traces of folding. Sides slightly damaged, traces of previous framing. Some scattered dirt throughout. Unframed.
