This is a DVD-ROM containing scanned manuals in PDF form of 41 manuals on the subject of military aircraft guns and turrets (mostly turrets, since the gun is generally the Browning M-2 50 caliber machine gun). Each manual was scanned at 300 or 600 lines per inch, then hand-edited in Photoshop to eliminate as many marks and stains as possible. Large fold-out diagrams have been scanned on a large-format scanner and are complete, single images (rather than sequences of small 8.5x11 images that you sometimes see). These are not your Grandmother's scans. Special care has been taken with the half-tone images to make sure that all the detail and depth of the originals is preserved. Some amount of color-correction has been applied to the color prints, although I wasn't able to always get the colors perfect due to yellowing of the pages or fading of the inks. All the manuals are for guns that were in piston-engine military aircraft - no jets - and are generally from WWII-era airplanes. The B-29 introduced a fully remote-control aiming and firing system and has a separate section. Some information on fighter guns is also included. The manuals have been indexed by OCR for easy searching.
