T are some printed letters and lines that are partially missing and the removal of someone's engraved Social Security and driver’s license number under the power switch. The removal of the engraving is silver in color and blends well with the champagne gold anodized faceplate (in the photos it looks silver, dark silver and black but it's not, it is all silver) and the ultrasonic clean knobs are stained. This DYNACO PAT-4 preamp has been completely reconditioned and all of its audio electrolytic capacitors have been replaced. In solid-state equipment, electrolytic capacitors are used to interconnect one audio stage to the next. As the equipment ages for 35 + years, the capacitors dry out and change value. The preamp’s distortion increases, channels become unbalanced and output levels decreases. It may not be possible to detect any changes without testing it with professional audio equipment or comparing it to a correctly operating preamp.
