This is an original cast iron metal box from the 1840's. Written on the paper in the box was the words, Verlag Bei E.G. Zimmerman in Hanay. Earnst Georg Zimmerman, AR Sea Bass 1840-1842. It also said, Called Noah's Ark in the Franzosische Allec. It is in perfect condition and I have shown all the markings on the box in the pictures. It appears to be a design from the navy. It weighs about 1-1 1/2 lbs. I guess the marks don't mean to much unless you know about E. G. Zimmerman himself. This is a very nice piece and would be a neat addition to someones antique collection. E.G. Zimmerman was a german blacksmith, this is what I've been told. T is also writing underneath the top of the box lid that is not pictured , it's covered with cloth. Any questions please write. Thank for looking.
