FOR AUCTION IS this Wonderful Very Large FANCY WELCH MANTEL CLOCK (w original Key). this is an Exceptionally Large Welch clock as Welch models go. I have researched Welch clocks for a while, and many of the traditional welch clocks are a bit smaller & more common, I have been unable to find this exact one in this extra large Mantel size, so I think it is a fairly rare Welch Model. think it is from the late 1800s. I have been told by an ebayer it is an Ingraham clock movement & Case & it is called Desoto but probably a Welch Dial. Clock is in a wonderful Gild Decorated Heavy Dark Black Wood Case. Manufactured E.N. Welch Mfc Co. Sides have Original Heavy Gild Lion Heads that are in nice condition & Heavy gild feet that are also in nice condition. Clock is decorated with Gilded decorations. Clock Has a dial with Fancy Numbers & has a Glass Cover that opens & closes on top of the dial. T is an Original key that comes with this clock (see picture). This clock works & seems to keep good time...but it stops from time to time & once it is moved it begins again. it appears to chime with a gong on the hour. I do not know too much about this clock, so I am trying to be as detailed as I can. it is gorgeous & Beautifully Ornate.
