L.E. SMITH ROYAL PLUM CARNIVAL ROBIN TEA PITCHER Made by L. E. Smith, this beautiful L.E. Smith Purple Carnival Glass Robin Water Pitcher stands 8 1/2" tall 5 1/4" in diameter, and is approximately 8 1/2" from spout to the outside curve of the handle. The intricate details of the pitcher is a wonderful example of American Pressed Glass. The relief on this lovely Pitcher is outstanding showing the robin perched on a limb or stem with leaves and flowers stand out quite nicely from the surface. On its bottom it carries a large "S"and incorporates a smaller "G" and "C".. which is L.E.Smith Glass Company. The carnival irridescence radiates a rainbow of colors that seems to come alive. L.E. Smith closed their doors mid July, 2004. They had been in operation for more than 100 years. With L.E. Smith Glass Company being one of only a handful of domestic glass manufacturers, they preserve the "lost art" of true handmade glass. Small bubbles, straw marks, and variations are an inherent part of true handmade glass and should not be considered flawed. Each piece is indeed a one of a kind piece unlike automated glassware. It is in excellent condition with no chips, dings or repairs. A lovely addition to your collection!! Please check my other auctions as I list new items each day.
