E4 FORT WAYNE ELECTRIC, Colossal Glass K Watt Meter 1901 Patent Date FORT WAYNE ELECTRIC LIGHT COMPANY ~ FORT WAYNE ELECTRIC COMPANY FORT WAYNE ELECTRIC CORPORATION ~ FORT WAYNE ELECTRIC WORKS GENERAL ELECTRIC 1881 ~ Turn of the Century Whatever name it went by at the moment, The Fort Wayne Electric Company was a major player in the very earliest days of the developing electric industry; specializing in generating, lighting and meter manufacturing. General Electric closed the last manufaturing line in Fort Wayne in 2010 but still continues to be the headquarters for the motors and controls business. Sadly, 2 years ago they tore down the last remaining brick factory from the 1880s where I'm sure some of these items were made. These pieces are very rare, and in A to A+ condition. All items are sold as is. These items are fresh to the market having been recently deaccessed from the a regional museum. I have wipped the dust off and carefully removed the covers, where possible, to take the photos. They look to be complete and 'un-played with'. Be sure to look at my other outstanding early electrical items, several from the 1890s. This magnificent Type K Watt Meter in enclosed in a copper bound and ribbed, clyndrical glass case that is 11" in diameter and 6 1/2" deep. Glass shows no cracks, breaks nor chips.
